pmplegacy was appointed in September 2006 to identify, review and recommend the development options for the London Olympic Stadium in legacy mode, post the 2012 Games.
Our brief was to investigate the potential to create a ‘living stadium’ which was used extensively 52 weeks of the year when the spectator capacity was reduced from the 80,000 for the Olympics to circa 25,000. Our development proposals centred upon the existing commitment made to the International Olympic Committee for the venue to be a national stadium for athletics and the feasibility of a tri-partite use with association football and rugby. The outcome was a robust set of proposals incorporating these three sports together with a wide range of users within the stadium infrastructure including a new school and university faculty, health and fitness and sports centre, convenience retail, hospitality and entertainment and the potential for some residential units within the overall footprint of the site.
