pmplegacy was appointed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to assist with the development and completion of its bid to host the 2015 IRB Rugby World Cup.
The RFU was looking to bring the showpiece event to England for the first time in its own right, having jointly hosted the event with Ireland, Scotland, Wales and France in 1991. Our support enabled England to beat off competition from Italy and South Africa to win the right to host the event.
England 2015’s fixture and stadia schedule is designed to maximise opportunities for all fans to experience the excitement of the event, with games taking place in 12 major stadia across 10 cities. pmplegacy completed a number of specific elements of the bid book around spectator accommodation; national and city characteristics; and the unique commercial opportunities inherent in bringing the event to England. Working alongside the RFU, pmplegacy also assisted with other areas of the bid and the coordination of the submission to the IRB.
RFU chairman Martyn Thomas said "We have been trusted with making a great competition and providing a great spectacle. We have got some very iconic stadia and it will be tremendous for world rugby and immense for participation in England."
