Sixteen cities across England are in contention to become candidate host cities and pmplegacy has been playing an important role in the current process which will identify which cities are selected to be included in England 2018’s final submission to FIFA.
pmplegacy has been working closely with the England 2018/2022 team led by Technical Director, Ian Riley and together with a range of specialist architects and accommodation experts, the pmplegacy team have assisted with the management of two rounds of intensive inspection visits to each city in July and September 2009.
Now, the excitement is building in anticipation of the final submissions which are due in on Thursday, 26 November and the important evaluation process that follows.
Cathy Livock, Director of Consulting at pmplegacy states “We are delighted to be working with England 2018/2022 on this important project and are enjoying contributing to what needs to be a thorough and robust selection process.”
The announcement of successful cities will be made in December 2009, with England due to submit its final bid to FIFA in May 2010.
This flagship project builds upon pmplegacy’s work as bid consultants to Madrid 2016 who missed out to Rio in their bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games and adds to an extensive track record of helping countries, cities and federations bid, win, plan and deliver major sporting events.
